AD1205SX

Ultraview Corporation

The AD1205SX is a complete high speed data acquisition system on a singleSBus card. The board is designed for high speed operation for scientific, medical and industrial applications. Its four channel 12-bit A/Dconverter has an aggregate throughput of up to 5 megasamples per second, into a dual-ported shared memory having a 4 million word (8 Mb) capacity.Sampling is controlled by a high speed automatic timebase which issoftware settable in increments of 100ns.Features of the AD1205SX include:data streams without CPU intervention.MHz sampling rate. The AD1205SX is a complete high-speed data acquisition and control systemon a single SBus card. It is designed for high-frequency, low jitteroperation as required for scientific, medical, and industrialapplications. The board functions in any SBus-based system using theUltraView supplied drivers for Solaris 2.x or, alternatively, the boardsmay be accessed directly by a user program. In addition to the board's ultra-fast 5 MHz 12-bit A/D converters, theboard has 4 parallel TTL inputs and 4 parallel TTL outputs which canacquire and output digital data at the full sampling rate, concurrentlywith each A/D sample. These high-speed TTL digital I/O vectors areunique to the Ultraview board, allowing dynamic control of scientific orindustrial apparati while analog data is being acquired or outputted, andrefreshing these vectors on every sample. All A/D and TTL I/O vectorsare automatically and simultaneously transferred into and out of a huge 8Megabyte dual-ported onboard RAM.To operate the board, only one control register needs to be programmed. The start of conversion can also be triggered by an external signal. When the user sets the GO bit is this register, the board automaticallyand continuously converts a string of samples. Samples from the A/Dconverters and TTL inputs automatically appear sequentially in the dual-ported memory, and TTL outputs are also simultaneously updated from adifferent region of the dual-ported memory. The shared (dual-ported) RAM that holds the data for A/D conversions ismemory-mapped, and can be accessed easily by just reading or writinglongwords from the desired locations. All boards are supplied with a device driver and various sampledemonstration programs for Solaris 2.3 and up.Additionally, a set of user-direct sample programs are supplied whichallow operation under SunOS 4.1.x and Solaris 2.x operating systemversions. All software is supplied in source (C language) as well asexecutable form.
